Early Childhood Pre-Ballet/Movement Literacy Program:

Almost 3 Year Old Class:  Children must be 2.5 years old by September 15, 2018.  The perfect introduction to our Movement Literacy and Pre-Ballet programs, this class introduces movement fundamentals such as balance and coordination while establishing social and classroom skills such as listening to the teacher, sharing, and turn-taking.

3 Year Old Pre-Ballet/Movement Literacy Class:  Children must be 3 years old by September 15, 2018 to participate in this level.  We introduce age-appropriate ballet fundamentals through creative play.  Children will be engaged physically, emotionally, intellectually, and creatively as their teacher uses imagery and imagination to make learning correct ballet technique a fun and exciting activity.  Whether your child is interested in ballet or just likes to pretend, he/she will enjoy the fun and creative world of movement literacy program while also learning important physical, emotional, social, and classroom skills.

4 Year Old Pre-Ballet/Movement Literacy Class:  Children must be 4 years old by September 15, 2018 to participate in this level. We introduce age-appropriate ballet fundamentals through creative play.  Children will be engaged physically, emotionally, intellectually, and creatively as their teacher uses imagery and imagination to make learning correct ballet technique a fun and exciting activity.  The 4 Year Old program will build on skill learned during the 3 Year Old program but it is not necessary to have taken the 3 Year Old class to participate.

Early Childhood Happy Tappers Program:

Created by faculty member Liz Rossi, the Happy Tappers curriculum is designed to teach young dancers proper tap technique in a fun and creative environment.  Dancers will learn also learn about rhythm, musicality, and more!

3/4 Year Old Tap/Movement Literacy Class:  Children must be 3 years old by September 15, 2018 to participate in this level. Happy Tappers is designed to teach fundamental tap skills in a fun and creative environment.  It is a comprehensive tap dance and music education program, created with a child’s social, physical, and emotional development in mind.  Children will be engaged through the use of dramatic play, games, and fun activities while still learning proper tap technique.

5/6 Year Old Tap/Movement Literacy Class:  Children must be 5 years old by September 15, 2018 to participate in this level. Happy Tappers is designed to teach fundamental tap skills in a fun and creative environment.  It is a comprehensive tap dance and music education program, created with a child’s social, physical, and emotional development in mind.  Children will be engaged through the use of dramatic play, games, and fun activities while still learning proper tap technique.  The 5/6 Year Old program will build on skill learned during the 4/5 Year Old program but it is not necessary to have taken the 4 Year Old class to participate.


 

Ballet Classes:

Ballet 1:  Approximate ages 6-8 years old.  Dancers will be guided in proper ballet technique while making a healthy transition from our pre-ballet movement literacy program into a more traditional ballet format.  This class is also appropriate for children with no ballet experience.

Ballet 2/3:  Approximate ages 7-11 years old.  Dancers with a strong basis in correct technique will be introduced to an expanded ballet vocabulary and challenged by level appropriate material and more complex patterning.

Ballet 4/5:  Approximate ages 8-13 with experience.  Dancers will be introduced to additional vocabulary, more complex patterning, and will continue to perfect their existing technique

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet - Approximate ages 12+ years old.  Dancers with a strong basis in correct technique will be introduced to an expanded ballet vocabulary and challenged by level appropriate material and more complex patterning.

Pointe - Pointe class may only be taken in connection with the preceding Int/Adv Ballet Classes.

Adult Barre & Core:   Appropriate for adults with little to no experience, adults returning to ballet, adults with moderate experience, or advanced dancers seeking to gain strength and conditioning.  Class will consist of core and strengthening work, a ballet barre that will raise your heart rate while increasing your muscle tone, and a cool down stretch that will leave you refreshed.

Beginner/Open Teen Ballet:  This class will provide a basic introduction to the fundamentals of ballet technique.  This course is appropriate for teens or adults with 0-2 years of experience.


Tap Classes:

For children under 7, see the information on our Happy Tappers program above.

Tween Tap: (ages 7-11) This class continues to build on skills learned in the past. The class maintains a fun atmosphere while focusing on proper tap technique of increasing difficulty.

Advanced Tween Tap:  (ages 7-11) This class is by invitation only and may be taken as an extension of the Tween Tap Class to build on more advanced skills.

Open Teen/Adult Tap:  (ages 12+)  For tappers ages 12 through adult who want to improve their skills and get a great workout at the same time!


Jazz, AcroStretch, & Musical Theatre:

Jazz for Kids:  (ages 6-11) Jazz for Kids will focus on building classical jazz skills in a fun and age appropriate environment.  From a jazz style warm-up, to traveling skills, to learning combinations, jazz combines a variety of movement from many backgrounds, including ballet, African dance, street dance, theatre dance, and more.  All music and movement will be age appropriate.

Teen/Adult Jazz:  (ages 12+) Teen/Adult Jazz will focus on building classical jazz skills including proper technique, style, and emphasis.  From a jazz style warm-up, to traveling skills, to learning combinations, jazz combines a variety of movement from many backgrounds, including ballet, African dance, street dance, theatre dance, and more.  All music and movement will be age appropriate.

AcroStretch for Kids:  (ages 6-11)  This class will focus on increasing strength, flexibility, agility, and power.    Dancers will work on proper form throughout the stretching and strengthening process.  Note that this class is not a tumbling class.  Your child will gain in flexibility and will learn basic skills like bridging and back bends from a standing position. 

Musical Theatre for Kids :   (ages 5-6) Dancers will learn the basics of musical theatre dance while working on movement literacy concepts.  This class is part of our children's program and thus focuses on a healthy introduction to dance that concentrates on strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination

Musical Theatre for Tweens:   (ages 7-11) Dancers will continue with the fundamentals of jazz technique, acting and singing in this course, which will be utilized to work on musical theatre pieces during class time. 

Musical Theatre for Teens/Adults:  Dancers will learn the fundamentals of jazz technique which will be utilized to work on musical theatre repertory during class time.  


Modern:

Modern for Kids:  (Approximate ages 6-11) Dancers will learn the fundamentals of modern technique while exploring space and quality of movement.  No experience is necessary to join this class.

Open Teen Modern:  (Approximate ages Teen-Adult) Dancers will learn the fundamentals of modern technique while exploring space and quality of movement.  No experience is necessary to join this class.

Advanced Teen Modern: (Approximate ages Teen-Adult) Dancers should have experience in both ballet and modern to join this class.  The pace of learning in this class will be accelerated and is for dancers taking multiple classes per week.

Advanced Choreography and Repertoire:  (Approximate ages Teen-Adult) Dancers should have experience in both ballet and modern to join this class.  The pace of learning in this class will be accelerated and is for dancers taking multiple classes per week.
